Is your business fully prepared?

There are three types of plans that businesses might be required to have, and that all should have.  They are the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

One might ask why three plans?  Emergency’s and Disasters come in many different shapes and sizes.  There are different phases of being ready as a company to deal with them.

Emergency Action Plan

Addresses the Preparedness Phase of Emergency Management.

Its main purpose is to protect people.  Almost all businesses are required to have these.

Emergency Response Plan

Addresses the Response Phase of Emergency Management.

Its main purpose is to outline how a company will respond to hazmat incidents.  Businesses with certain amounts of specific chemicals are required to have these.

Business Continuity Plan

Addresses the Recovery Phase of Emergency Management.   Its main purpose is to ensure the operation of a business during and after a disaster.  These plans are required by industries the government  considers to be critical.
